I think every complaint I read about both of those encounters were from someone playing solo legendary. It drastically changes the difficulty. Give Calus a try on solo legendary to see why people are complaining; I finally beat him last night solo legendary after around 2 hours of trying the fight over.

None of the vex can really hit you and you can take cover whenever you need. You can also hide behind the back left one. Assassin cowl, you can heal/invis off of the throwing melee, grapple melee, and finshers. Throw on the overshield while finishing and you’re unkillable if you can chain finishes and melee kills.
