The Benelli is a GREAT gun, and cost me about what I paid for both the Mossy's combined. If your budget is small, go with the Mossy's, they'll do the job reliably. When the Nova came out I bought one and sold my 835. I personally prefer the Nova for a few reasons. First, its lighter. Second, I feel it has a better action, and for me it is easier to cycle. My 835 was one of the models that had trouble with the extractor not grabbing the shell when you cycle the action.

Regular stock, black synthetic and 26'' barrel. Difference is going to be a supernova with a regular stock comes with comfortech. Is a type of recoil assisting technology. The Nova is just standard. Prices accurate at time of writing. $1,799 at Kygunco.the Mossberg 500 and the 590 aren't really in the same category to be fair. The Supernova vs the 590 is a much more suitable comparison in my eyes. The Benelli being better balanced and much "nicer", whilst the 590 is built as tough as any gun I've ever seen. if clubbing an elephant to death is a consideration potentially, 590.By the way, Benelli uses very high quality LPA ghost rings that are easy to adjust and can be fitted with different aperatures and front beads, including tritium. The Mossberg sights are, well Mossberg sights. Crude, yet fuctional. Look up the cost of a set of LPA ghost rings to add to a gun and the price of a Nova starts looking really nice. But the Italian-made Nova isn’t exactly your traditional pump gun. It doesn’t have the classic good looks of an 870 Wingmaster or a Mossberg 500. Rather than hardwood, the Nova is built with a one-piece polymer stock and receiver that Benelli claims increases the shotgun’s strength.A longer barrel would make wingshooting a little easier, but the 24" is certainly useable and is a good compromise if turkey hunting and SD are in the mix. A 24" barreled Benelli is about the same overall length and balance as most other guns with a 26" barrel. It works. With 3-1/2" shells it bites.

Mossberg thoughtfully included dual extractors on the 500, as opposed to the single extractor on the Remington 870. With cheaper ammo, shotgun extractors can sometimes “jump” over the rim of the shell or even tear through completely.Anyway, I used the Mossberg 500 for many years and it never jammed, but that safety broke a few times, a common problem for them.
